MOCHILA Project Presented to the Forum of Vice-Rectors of Guatemalan Universities

Microcredentials and their potential to transform higher education were among the topics discussed during the 213th meeting of the Forum of Vice-Rectors of Guatemalan Universities, a space where academic innovation, technological initiatives, and quality assurance projects promoted by higher education institutions in the country were presented.

During the meeting, the University of San Carlos of Guatemala (USAC) presented the progress of the Erasmus+ MOCHILA Project, highlighting its objectives, scope, and achievements related to the management, design, and issuance of university microcredentials. Information was also shared about the universities participating in the consortium and the actions undertaken to strengthen the microcredentials ecosystem in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The presentation also showcased the resources and deliverables produced by the project, which have been developed as open references to support institutions interested in implementing microcredentials and strengthening their capacities in this field.

A key aspect of the presentation was USAC’s contribution to Work Package 4 (WP4), which focuses on the design and implementation of eight short learning experiences in the areas of engineering, health sciences, and entrepreneurship. During the session, participants learned about the progress achieved and the pedagogical and technological strategies supporting the development of these pilot initiatives.

Presenting the MOCHILA Project to university leaders in Guatemala contributed to raising awareness about microcredentials and promoting new opportunities for collaboration aimed at advancing more flexible and innovative models of higher education.
