From May 18–22, 2026, the University of San Carlos of Guatemala (USAC), a partner institution of the Erasmus+ MOCHILA Project, participated in the 60th Meeting of the Central American System for Evaluation and Harmonization of Higher Education (SICEVAES) of the Central American Higher University Council (CSUCA), as well as in the First Central American and Caribbean Biennial University Meeting, held at the International Maritime University of Panama.
The academic events aimed to promote exchange, reflection, and dialogue on innovation, academic harmonization, and quality assurance in higher education across the region.
During the meeting, universities from Central America and the Caribbean presented innovative experiences, good practices, proposals, and research initiatives. USAC’s participation stood out through the presentation “Innovation and Microcredentials: The USAC Experience,” which showcased the institution’s progress in the field of microcredentials and the actions undertaken to strengthen their management, design, and issuance.
The presentation also highlighted the contribution of the MOCHILA Project to institutional capacity building and the development of good practices for implementing microcredentials in higher education, demonstrating the value of regional and international cooperation in this area.
USAC’s participation in this event provided an opportunity to share experiences with institutions across the region and contribute to the ongoing dialogue on educational innovation, quality assurance, and the development of microcredentials in Latin America and the Caribbean.
