ITESO Advances the Development of an Institutional Framework for Microcredentials

As part of the activities of the Erasmus+ MOCHILA Project, the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Occidente (ITESO), a partner institution of the consortium, organized a collaborative workshop focused on the development of an institutional framework for the issuance of microcredentials.

The activity brought together administrative staff, directors, coordinators, and researchers, who worked collaboratively to identify the key elements that should be considered when designing and implementing an institutional microcredentials ecosystem.

During the session, participants explored topics related to technology, governance, quality assurance, sustainability, and other strategic components required for the implementation of microcredentials in higher education. As a result, each team proposed an institutional architecture that integrated these dimensions in a coherent and connected way.

The methodology helped participants visualize the complexity of the processes involved by using building blocks to represent tasks and responsibilities within the institutional ecosystem. In addition, generative artificial intelligence was incorporated as an additional participant in the reflection and analysis process.

Initiatives such as this contribute to strengthening institutional capacities and developing sustainable models for the implementation of microcredentials, one of the core objectives of the MOCHILA Project in Latin America and the Caribbean.

ITESO participants work collaboratively on proposals for the development of an institutional framework for microcredentials as part of the activities promoted by the Erasmus+ MOCHILA Project.
