MOCHILA Project partners deliver training on micro-credentials

On January 26, 2026, within the framework of the Erasmus+ MOCHILA Project, consortium partners delivered a specialized workshop on digital micro-credentials at the facilities of Tecnológico de Monterrey, in Monterrey, Mexico.

The training session was led by Dr. Carlos Delgado Kloos, Director of the UNESCO Chair “Scalable Digital Education for All”, and Dr. Carlos Alario-Hoyos, Deputy Director, both from Universidad Carlos III of Madrid, a partner institution in the MOCHILA Project. During the session, they shared experiences and insights derived from the European context and discussed their potential adaptation to the Latin American reality.

The workshop, titled “The European Approach to Micro-credentials and its Application in the Latin American Context”, provided a comprehensive overview of the main European initiatives in this field. Key topics addressed included quality assurance, metadata structuring, recognition frameworks, and opportunities for implementing micro-credentials in higher education institutions across Latin America and the Caribbean.

This activity forms part of the MOCHILA Project’s capacity-building strategy, which aims to strengthen institutional competencies for the design and issuance of digital micro-credentials, promoting more flexible learning models aligned with lifelong learning and employability.

The participation of project partners in this initiative reaffirms MOCHILA’s commitment to international cooperation, the exchange of best practices, and the joint development of a regional framework for micro-credentials in Latin America and the Caribbean. It also highlights the role of the UNESCO Chair in fostering collaboration and knowledge transfer between Europe and Latin America, contributing to more inclusive, dynamic, and student-centered higher education systems.
