From January 27 to 29, 2026, Universidad Carlos III of Madrid (UC3M), a partner of the MOCHILA Project, actively participated in the IFE Conference 2026 (Innovation For Education), the sixth edition of the international conference organized by Tecnológico de Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico. The event was held under the theme “Transforming Higher Education 2026: Academic Leadership in the Age of Microcredentials” and brought together academics, institutional leaders, and international experts to reflect on the future of higher education.
Representing UC3M, Dr. Carlos Delgado Kloos and Dr. Carlos Alario-Hoyos took part in various sessions of the program, contributing perspectives related to educational innovation, lifelong learning, and the development of micro-credentials.
Dr. Carlos Delgado Kloos was invited as a speaker on January 29, 2026, in the session “Trends in Educational Innovation in Higher Education: Four Perspectives”, where he shared his insights on the main trends shaping higher education globally.
Meanwhile, Dr. Carlos Alario-Hoyos participated in two specialized panels. In the panel “Micro-credentials in Iberoamerica: Building Equity and Quality Through the MOCHILA Initiative” (January 28, 2026), he presented progress and reflections derived from the Erasmus+ MOCHILA Project, focused on the design and implementation of digital micro-credentials in Latin America and the Caribbean. He also contributed to the closing panel “Where are we heading in terms of alternative credentials?” (January 29, 2026), engaging in discussions on the future of educational credentials and their recognition in higher education.
The participation of Universidad Carlos III of Madrid in the IFE Conference 2026 reinforces its commitment to educational innovation and international collaboration within the framework of the MOCHILA Project, contributing experiences and approaches that support the development of a regional framework for micro-credentials in Latin America and the Caribbean.
