UNESCO Chair at UC3M Participated in International Conference on Micro-credentials

On December 3, 2025, the UNESCO Chair «Scalable Digital Education for All» at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) participated in the International Conference on Micro-credentials organized by the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV) in Chile. The event brought together national and international experts to exchange experiences, models, and challenges related to micro-credentials in higher education.

Representing the UNESCO Chair at UC3M, Dr. Carlos Alario Hoyos delivered a keynote titled “Digital Micro-credentials: International Experiences and Action Lines”, in which he shared insights from work conducted in Europe and Latin America, with a special focus on the progress of the Erasmus+ MOCHILA Project. His talk addressed key topics such as quality, interoperability, institutional articulation, and the design of modular learning pathways.

The conference also featured presentations by representatives from Harvard University, University of Chile, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, and University of Guadalajara, creating a diverse platform for discussing how micro-credentials can contribute to more flexible, relevant, and future-oriented education.

The participation of the UC3M UNESCO Chair in this conference strengthens the MOCHILA Project’s positioning as a regional reference for institutional and collaborative frameworks on micro-credentials. It also reinforces the Chair’s commitment to advancing open, scalable, and student-centered educational models.
