MOCHILA Project Partners Deliver Training Session in Guatemala

On November 17, 2025, the international partners of the MOCHILA Project visited Guatemala to carry out a comprehensive training session on digital micro-credentials, organized in collaboration with Universidad Galileo and the University of San Carlos of Guatemala (USAC).

Throughout the day, five specialized workshops were delivered to faculty members, academic authorities, and technical staff from higher education institutions. The workshops included:

  • The European Approach to Micro-credentials: Key Initiatives and Lessons Learned, led by Carlos Delgado Kloos and Carlos Alario Hoyos (Universidad Carlos III de Madrid).
  • Micro-credentials for Professional Development in Lifelong Learning, facilitated by Ruth Kerr and Valentina Reda (Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II).
  • Criteria and Guidelines for Micro-credentials: Quality Assurance, delivered by Óscar Jerez (University of Chile).
  • Institutional Transformation for Educational Innovation: The Case of Micro-credentials, conducted by Genaro Zavala (Tecnológico de Monterrey).
  • From Idea to Action: Institutional Roadmap for the Implementation of Micro-credentials, presented by Miguel Morales (Universidad Galileo).

This training session served as an important opportunity for academic exchange and capacity building, supporting the adoption of micro-credentials across Higher Education Institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean. It also strengthened collaboration between Guatemalan universities and the project’s partner institutions, advancing efforts toward a more flexible, innovative, and learning-recognition-oriented regional ecosystem.
