UC3M UNESCO Chair Participates in the ALC Event in Chile

On May 29, 2025, Prof. Carlos Delgado Kloos, Director of the UNESCO Chair “Scalable Digital Education for All” at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M), participated in the MOCHILA Regional Workshop, organized by the University of Chile in Santiago (educate.uc3m.es).

During his presentation, Prof. Delgado Kloos delivered the keynote lecture “Design and Issuance of Micro-credentials in LAC (Latin America and the Caribbean): Reflections for a Common Regional Framework.” His talk addressed key elements for building shared standards and frameworks in the region, promoting dialogue around institutional policies, recognition criteria, quality assurance, and equivalencies among digital credentials.

The event brought together academics and institutional leaders from various countries across Latin America and the Caribbean, creating a rich space for exchanging ideas on how to advance toward coherent and collaborative systems for learning certification. This participation strengthens the presence of the UC3M UNESCO Chair in the region and enriches the development of the MOCHILA Project, contributing valuable perspectives for designing a regional micro-credential framework.

MOCHILA is a project funded by the European Commission that aims to develop a reference framework for the design and issuance of micro-credentials in Higher Education Institutions across Latin America and the Caribbean. The initiative promotes the implementation of flexible, modular certification systems aligned with lifelong learning.
