From August 25 to 29, 2025, the Deputy Director of the UNESCO Chair “Scalable Digital Education for All” at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M), Dr. Carlos Alario Hoyos, actively participated in the 4th Educational Innovation and Bonaventurian Academic Training Week, organized by the Center for Innovation in Education and Pedagogy (CEA) at Universidad de San Buenaventura, Cali – Colombia (educate.uc3m.es).
During the event, Dr. Alario delivered three notable contributions:
Monday, August 25
• Executive session: “Micro-credentials and Digital Badges”
• Conference-workshop: “Generative AI Technologies to Support Teaching Methodologies”
Tuesday, August 26
• Panel discussion: “Impact of Technologies on the Curriculum” (educate.uc3m.es)
This academic space provided an opportunity to reflect and discuss the incorporation of micro-credentials, digital badges, and AI-based tools into teacher training and curriculum design. It served as a key moment to highlight the progress of the UC3M UNESCO Chair in educational innovation and to strengthen dialogue with institutions across Latin America.
Dr. Alario’s participation in this forum directly contributes to the MOCHILA Project, bringing relevant insights for the development of modern and sustainable regional frameworks for micro-credentials. The initiative promotes flexible, modular certification systems aligned with the needs of lifelong learning in Latin America and the Caribbean.
MOCHILA is a project funded by the European Commission that aims to develop a reference framework for the design and issuance of micro-credentials in Higher Education Institutions across Latin America and the Caribbean. Its purpose is to promote innovative certification systems that respond to the demands of flexible and continuous learning.
